New Zealand Wine, Bilancia, Puriri Hills, Central Otago pinot noir, Hawkes Bay Syrah
Aroma: Feijoa, Turkish Delight/rose petals, candy floss, apricots and ripe peaches mingle with banana passionfruit and honeysuckle.
Palate: Peaches/apricots, round soft palate entry, ripe estery apple flavours with a silky texture and good persistence. Just the right amount of acid to hold the fruit characters but not aggravate the alcohol.
Food match: Enjoy with lightly spiced Asian dishes or fresh summer salads
Awards: Champion Pinot Gris Trophy: Bragato Wine Awards 2009. Gold medal: Bragato Wine Awards 2009
Viticulture: Our Ohau vineyards have stony, fertile soils, ideal for growing grapes. The fruit for this wine was our first crop from the Pinot Gris vines. The Kapiti Coast is famous for Indian summers and long warm, dry late autumns to ripen the fruit in the vineyards. The 2009 vintage was excellent and the fruit was carefully monitored during ripening and harvested at maximum flavour maturity and physiological ripeness.
