New Zealand Wine, Bilancia, Puriri Hills, Central Otago pinot noir, Hawkes Bay Syrah
Region: Hawke’s Bay, New Zealand
Tasting Notes: Louis Syrah 2006 is the flagship wine of Bridge Pa Vineyard, a wine producer devoted to Syrah. This wine is made from the very best hand harvested fruit from vines grown on Taupo Pumice Sands at the Ngatarawa Road vineyard. Crafted using traditional gentle winemaking techniques Louis Syrah 2006 displays the classic Bridge Pa Vineyard aromas of perfumed violet and black fruit. The palate is full bodied and smooth featuring berries, black cracked pepper and an earthy undertone. Extended barrel aging in American oak barriques has contributed to a beautifully balanced and elegantly structured Rhône style wine that will continue to develop in the bottle long after its release.

95/100 - "Enormous Fruit. Wonderful cracked pepper and mulberry with hints of violet and lavender. Silky richness and lovely round tannins. Amazingly complex. Endless spicy finish.
91/100 eRobertParker.com - Neal Martin Nov 2009
Good purity on the nose: Blackberry, raspberry and a touch of "hot bricks". Well defined and natural. The palate is medium-bodied, fleshy texture, caresses the mouth, lovely balanced and bewitching crescendo towards the svelt finish. Pure black cherries and Doris plum. Beautifully crafted. Wonderful. Drink 2010-2016
