Region: Hawkes Bay fruit sourced from two outstanding vineyards, Black Bridge Estate, Haumoana and Glencoe Station, south of Maraekakaho.

Vintage: The 2010 vintage was an exceptional one with continuous fine weather allowing for perfect ripening conditions.

Wine making: Clean, ripe fruit was 100% hand harvested and then whole bunch pressed to tanks for settling. A slow, cool fermentation allowed for the retention of classic Pinot Gris character, and bottling soon after the completion of fermentation allows for the freshness to be captured and held. Characteristic Pinot Gris aromas of ripe pears and spice show through while the palate is a balance of flavour, structure and texture.

From the wine maker: At Bilancia, Pinot Gris is about overall mouthfeel and texture; texture is built through outstanding fruit quality and careful attention to winemaking balance. The wine is great drinking while young and will continue to drink well for 4 - 6 years.
